The Jefferson Davis County School District and Ingalls Shipbuilding have established a partnership at the Dennis W. Fortenberry Career Center.
During a meeting on June 7, there was a discussion about the endless possibilities that could occur with this partnership.
There will be various academic program opportunities, professional development, equipment, workforce development, etc., that would benefit the students and community members of Jefferson Davis County.
The partnership has already brought advantages to the district.
Ingalls has agreed to donate 30 welding booths to the CTE Center that will be installed and used by students and instructors.
Dr. Ben Weldon met with the staff of the CTE Center.
Weldon is the Manager of Workforce Development at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
“Collaborative efforts are ongoing, and we look forward to nurturing our relationship with Ingalls Shipbuilding in ways that will generate lasting academic and career opportunities for our scholars and community members,” said Superintendent Ike Haynes Jr.
