Schools in the Jefferson Davis County School District started school this morning. The district is now operating on a flexible calendar. School starts earlier, but there are more breaks throughout the year.
“Several school districts across the state are currently operating by a similar calendar,” said JDC Superintendent Ike Haynes. Haynes said much consideration and research was invested in this decision.
Survey results indicated that approximately 62% of parents, 81% of certified staff and 79% of classified staff were in favor of adopting the attached flexible calendar.
