Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, in Silver Creek, for Mr. Artierea Showers, 77, who died on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at Singing River Hospital in Gulfport.

Bishop Larry Grinstead officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Artierea Showers was born to the late John and Willean Showers.

He attended school at Pleasant Grove, Miller and McCullough.  He joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Showers later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he worked in construction. He loved doing mechanic work and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his step-son, Winfred Conerly and Tyrone Cook.

He is survived by his son, Edward Taylor of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Glenda Donaldson of Long Beach; brothers, J. C. (Annie Pearl) Showers of Monticello; John L. Showers and R. L. Showers both of Silver Creek; Eugene (Eloise) Showers of Brookhaven and Elton (Brenda) Showers of New Hebron; sister, Earnestine (David) Durr of Silver Creek; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
