JDC Chamber of Commerce holds successful fall worshop

The Jefferson Davis County Chamber of Commerce Partnership held a fall workshop Oct. 24 at the Rosenwald Building at Prentiss Institute. The topic of the workshop was “Why transportation is important to the community.” Guest speakers were Joyce Strickland and Konchetta Barnes of Five Country Transportation and Valerie Cooper of Hancock Whitney Bank.
Five Country Transportation made presentations on why transportation is important to communities and how transportation makes communities stronger. “Transportation is available for all and they service most counties or they partner with companies to provide services,” said Konchetta Barnes.
Cooper discussed fraud prevention , cyber-fraud targets and best practices, combatting payment fraud, multiple payment types and positive pay.
Pastor Marcus McLaurin of Mount Pleasant CME talked about the importance of voting and getting out to vote. “Everyone needs to encourage others to vote or carry them to do so,” he said.
“The workshop was beneficial and enjoyed by all,” said Jefferson Davis County Chamber of Commerce Partnership Dr. Su’brina Mason. “The Jefferson Davis County Chamber of Commerce Partnership would like to thank everyone that participated and attended.”
Serving with Dr. Mason as officers are Missy Jones, vice-president and Chellie Payne, event planner.
