Winter weather advisories have been expanded

The National Weather Service in Jackson provided an update Monday morning regarding the extremely dangerous cold temperatures and ongoing wintry precipitation. Winter weather advisories have been expanded with wind chills in Jefferson Davis County expected to be as low as -10 to -1 degree.
‘Please make any necessary preparations for this winter weather event ahead of its arrival and avoid any unnecessary travel during this time,” said JDC Emergency Management Director Jocelyn Ragsdale.
“Take the time to check on and assist the elderly residents in your community as well as take care of pets during these weather conditions. As in any event, preparedness saves lives.”
