Grover C. Cato

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in New Hebron, for Mr. Grover C. Cato, 71, who passed away on Friday, Jan. 12 at his residence. Rev. Moses Johnson officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He is the son of the late M. C. and Rena Mae Cato.
He was a member of North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, President of Brotherhood, Trustee and President of Juris McDuffey Scholarship Fund.
He served as Brotherhood President and Treasurer of Lawrence County Mississippi Baptist Association.
Mr. Cato was a retired entrepreneur who loved his livestock, watching westerns and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Monica (Demetrius) Brown and Tracey (Joe) Buckley of New Hebron; sons, Frelix (Lucy) Cato of Milton, Florida; Greg Cato of Hattiesburg; Wayne (Sheronda) Cato of New Hebron; sister, Mary Pearl Cato Stewart of Silver Creek; brothers, Darius Gene (Mary) Cato of New Hebron; McKenneth (Della) Cato of Byram; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
