Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Bassfield, for Mrs. Verta Bell Reese, 75, who passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss. Rev. Henry L. Kelly officiated with interment following in Wheeler Cemetery in Bassfield.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is the daughter of the late Willie and Roseanna Reese. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

Mrs. Reese loved cooking, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Stafford, Dannette (Jerry), LeSonjo, Kawain (Keturah), and Akena (Darrel); brothers, Jimmy Lee and Milton (Louise); sisters, Willene, Ollie Mae, and Jeraline; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
