A coronation and reception was held at the County Administrative Building Feb. 1 for the new Jefferson Davis County Miss Hospitality Ellen Porter. Porter was introduced by Jefferson Davis County Economic Development Director Gary Bass. “If you are wondering what Miss Hospitality is, she is the official goodwill ambassador for Economic Development and Tourism,” said Bass.
Porter was crowned by Bassfield Mayor Angie Ladner who will also serve as Porter’s local pageant coordinator. Economic Development Board Members Von Norwood and Dorothy Barnes presented her with a sash and a bouquet of red roses donated by Je Loru’s Florist.
“I want to thank God for this honor, and I will do my very best to represent Jefferson Davis County,” said Porter.
Porter will represent the county in the state Miss Hospitality Pageant in Hattiesburg in July. She will compete in Evening Gown, Physical Fitness, Interview and will present a commercial about Jefferson Davis County on stage.
Friends and family were able to get photos and speak with Porter and enjoy cake and punch.
