Betty Sue Daley

A Mass of Christian Burial were conducted for Mrs. Betty Sue Daley at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Bassfield with Father Tomasz Golab officiating. 

Interment will follow in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Carson.

Mrs. Daley, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord late Friday afternoon, April 26, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. 

Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

The family received friends Sunday evening, April 28, 2024, at the St. Peter Parish Hall from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Daley was carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, they included Travis Smith, Chad Daley, Michael John Coulter, Jett Daley and Cole Daley. 

Honorary pallbearers were Roger Walters and Bobby Odom.

Betty Sue Daley was born on Nov. 12, 1948, in Carson to J.C. and Ruth Rebecca Dyess Shoemake. 

She attended school at Bassfield and was a cheerleader. 

Mrs. Daley served her community for many years as a beautician, dedicating herself to making others feel beautiful both in life and in passing.

As the proud owner and operator of The Hair Shoppe in Bassfield, she not only styled hair but was also a fixture at Saulters Moore Funeral Home for many years, where she provided comfort to families by lovingly fixing her clients’ hair after they had passed on.

Much like rare gold, many would describe Betty as a true friend.  Always reaching out and doing for others, she found great delight in cultivating a yard full of exquisite flowers and sharing their beauty with all those around her.

A gifted baker and cake decorator, she brought joy to many through her delicious creations and artistic flair. 

In addition, her culinary skills were renowned, with her family eagerly anticipating her famous Cornbread Dressing and Chicken and Dumplings during gatherings, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter

A woman of faith and compassion, Mrs. Daley was a dedicated member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Bassfield.

She served as a Eucharist Minister, lent her voice to the Chancel Choir, and also held a special place in her heart for young people through her involvement with the Christian Youth Organization (CYO) at St. Peter Church. 

Additionally, she participated in the St. Peter team for Relay for Life, embodying the spirit of giving back to her community.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daley is also preceded in death by her brother, Dale Shoemake and her brother-in-law, Mark Gautier.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her beloved husband of 57 years, Wayne Daley of Carson; her daughter, Carmen Daley of Atoka, Tennessee; her sons, Pat Daley of Carson, Tony (Tracey) Daley of Atoka, Tennessee, Wesley (Erika) Daley of Bassfield; sisters, Janice (Earl) Roberts of Mt. Olive, Kay Gautier of Carson and Debra (Ernie) Langley of Prentiss.  The legacy of their Mawmaw will also live on through the grandchildren she adored, Jett Daley, Cole Daley, Reese Daley, Jacey Daley and Ella Daley.
