Funeral services were held Friday, May 31, 2024, at Lawrence County Multipurpose Building in Monticello, for Miss Shermyiah Elizabeth Jefferson, 18, who died Thursday, May 12, 2024, in Jefferson Davis County.

Rev. Moses Johnson officiated with interment following at North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in New Hebron.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Shermyiah Jefferson was born to Mr. Sherman and Miss Lisa Jefferson in Brookhaven. She was a member of North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the youth department, choir and usher board. She attended New Hebron Attendance Center and recently graduated from Lawrence County High School. She was active in many different organizations in school.

She is survived by her parents, Sherman and Lisa Jefferson; two sisters, Kristen S. and Precious D; maternal grandfather, Thomas Earl (Donna) Moore; godfather, Donald Walters; godmother, Dora Jean Moore; two god sisters, Myranda Turner and Jalisa Collins and many other relatives and friends.
