Evelyn Davis Ranager was born on June 9, 1938, in Prentiss to Melvin Marion and Myrtie Dossett Davis.

Her journey on Earth was one defined by love faith, and laughter. Evelyn grew up in the Bowie Community and finished high school at Carson where she played basketball.

On March 30, 1974, Evelyn embarked on a new chapter as the beloved wife of Julian Ranager.

Together, they shared 50 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering companionship.

Evelyn dedicated 25 years to Hudson Salvage in Prentiss before her well-deserved retirement.

She would humorously quip that she retired after her knees “wore out,” showcasing her light-hearted spirit and joyful approach to life.

Her career was not just about work; it was about building lasting friendships and connections with people from all walks of life.

She embodied a zest for life that touched everyone she encountered.

Her warm personality drew people to her effortlessly, both near and far.

Even while shopping in a mall in Mobile, Alabama, she managed to bump into someone she knew, a testament to the vast network of relationships she nurtured over the years.

“Sister Ranager”, as she was known by the many that loved her, possessed a true essence that shone through in her unwavering faith and deep love for the Lord. She was a prayer warrior and Mother of Zion, helping to birth many souls into the Kingdom of God throughout her life. Many of her family members attribute their presence in the Church today to Aunt

Evelyn’s steadfast prayers and Godly example. As a devoted member of New Chapel United Pentecostal Church, she served as the church secretary for many years; in addition, she also played guitar and lead congregational singing with a great anointing.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ranager is preceded in death by her brothers, Lavon, Sam, Wesley and Duthiel Davis.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her beloved husband of 50 years, Julian Ranager of Prentiss; her brother, Rev. Louis Davis (Rachel) of Grand Bay, Alabama; sisters-in-law, Edwina Bryant of New Hebron and Ann Davis of Hattiesburg. The legacy of their Aunt Evelyn will also live on through the many nieces and nephews whom she regarded as her own children.
