Francis McLaurin

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Progress Baptist Church in Bassfield, for Mr. Francis Isaac McLaurin, 86, who died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at his residence.

Rev. Kenneth Harrison officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. 

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Francis McLaurin was born to the late Katherine Carter Harper and Butler Harper.

His biological father was Isaac McLaurin.

He attended Carver High School and worked many construction jobs in New Orleans, Louisiana and Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He met and married Emma Verge in Tennessee and moved to Bassfield in 2009.

He was a member of Progress Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Harper; sister, Georgia Gilmore; stepson, Alex Verge and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Emma McLaurin; son, Isaac Harper; stepchildren, Jasmine, Toni and David; seven sisters, Lola Easterling, Ruth Smith, Margie Martin, Letha Watkins, Janie Martin, Christine Harper, Mamie Johnson; godbrother, Emery Pounds; many other relatives and friends.
