Closures announced in JDC due to Hurricane Francine

All Jefferson Davis County Schools and Prentiss Christian School will be closed Wednesday due to inclement weather conditions caused by Hurricane Francine. Prentiss Christian School will also be closed Thursday.
All Jefferson Davis County government offices will close Wednesday at noon. Offices will re-open Thursday weather permitting.
Prentiss City Hall will close at noon Wednesday and re-open at noon Thursday weather permitting.
Bassfield City Hall will close at noon Wednesday and re-open Friday morning.
Jefferson Davis County is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch after Francine shifted east Tuesday morning. The county is in the elevated threat for wind and flash flooding.
Under the elevated threat, wind gusts are expected at 45-55 miles per hour with widespread downed trees and power lines. Some damage to roofs and homes may be expected with many roads blocked. Power outages and some communications outages could last several days.
Four to six inches of rain is expected in a short amount of time. Flash flooding is likely. Some roads could be flooded or possibly closed.
All of this is expected late Wednesday afternoon through midday Thursday.
