Bobbie Jean Griffith

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Bassfield Pentecostal Church in Bassfield for Miss Bobbie Jean Griffith, 77, who died Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.  Pastor Anna Keys officiated with interment following at Progress Baptist Church in Bassfield.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Bobbie Jean Griffith was born to the late Johnnie Mae and L. Gusta Griffith. She joined Bassfield (Sandhill) Pentecostal Church that was organized in the home of her grandmother, Lula Buckley; as a testament of her grandmother’s legacy, she remained a faithful member until her demise. She attended Carver High School in Bassfield.  She worked at Collinswood Poultry Plant in Collins.  After which, she began babysitting.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie and Lottie Griffith; Shug and Lula Buckley; son, Ray Griffith; granddaughter, Bobbie Holloway; great-granddaughter, Emiyah Winters; brothers, Herman Buckley, Joel Griffith and Sherman Saucier.

She is survived by her sons, Ricky, Dave, Christopher and Sean Griffith; daughters, Meoshi McNair and Daphne Griffith; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Versie Lee (Geneva) Thompson; and Hester Buckley; sisters, Jean Griffith, Louisa Buckley, Diane Buckley, Gloria Broadnex, Shirley Buckley and Celia Griffith and many other relatives and friends.
