Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at Outreach Fellowship Revival Center in Prentiss,  for Mrs. Glennith Pearl Carft Carr, 83, who died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at her residence.

Rev. Bruce Betts officiated with interment following at North Silver Creek Baptist Church in New Hebron.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Glennith Carr was born to the late Dale and Leutena Hartzog Craft Newsome in Prentiss, Mississippi.  She began her education at Oak Grove School in Prentiss, Mississippi and later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she attended and graduated from Marshall High School.  She was married to the late Robert Lee Carr and to that union, six children were born.

Mrs. Carr moved back to Mississippi and joined Silver Creek Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Junion Usher Board President, Choir President, Dining Hall President, Pastor’s Aide President and Birthday Announcer.  She worked briefly in childcare for Headstart.  She worked for 28 years with Magnetek (Universal) Manufacturing.  She later retired after five years at Pine Grove. She later assisted her daughter, Tina Watts at Watts Daycare until her health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by two children, Anthony Carr and Gina Carr; one grandson, Anthony Watts; six brothers, Joseph Carft, Milford Carft, Charles Craft, Hughlon Newsome, R. C. Newsome and Willie Newsome; three sisters, Evelyn Craft, Marvia Bolton and Novella Andrews.

She is survived by four children, Tina (Willie) Watts of Prentiss; Robert (Brenda) Carr and Michael (Ann) Carr; both of Hattiesburg; Felecia (Michael) Ball of Augusta, Georgia; granddaughter, Ashley Watts; seven grandsons, Robert Carr, Christopher Carr, Isaiah Carr, Jordan Watts, Brandon Ball, Zachary Ball, and Timothy Rhodes; granddaugter-in-love, Lechelle Watts; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; six sisters, Peggy Napoleon, Estell Betts, Troy Fairley, and Dora (Eddie) Haynes all of Atlanta, Georgia; Essie Hall and Marilyn (Johnnie) Dickerson both of Jackson; four brothers, Royce (Linda) Craft and Charles Newsome both of Chicago, Illinois; John (Annette) Newsome and Jackie Newsome both of Prentiss; special sister-in-law, Mary L. Newsome and many other relatives and friends.
