Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Rollins Hartzog were conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel with interment following in Calvary Cemetery in Silver Creek.  Mrs. Hartzog, age 77, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord late Thursday evening Oct. 3, 2024, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.  Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

The Hartzog family received friends Monday, Oct. 7, beginning at noon until the hour of service at 2 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Brenda Gail Rollins Hartzog was born on Jan. 16, 1947, in Jefferson Davis County to James Sr. and Hattie Hammack Rollins.

A graduate of Prentiss High School, she was active in 4-H programs during her youth.

After high school, Brenda would go on to marry the love of her life, Bobby.

Their love blossomed into a beautiful partnership that led them to settle in Silver Creek, where Brenda devoted herself to being a devoted wife and mother.

Family meant everything to Brenda; her life was woven around her children and the moments they spent together.  One of her fondest traditions, filled with joy, was Christmas.

Every year, Brenda transformed her home into a wonderland of festive decorations, showcasing her cherished collection of Santas and Nutcrackers.

The air would be infused with the sweet fragrance of holiday candies, a special delight she prepared just for her loved ones. This was not merely a celebration but a heartfelt expression of her love—a time when her family would gather, share laughter, and create lasting memories.

A true icon of warmth and friendship, Brenda was also known for her fondness for the sitcom, The Golden Girls.

She often echoed the sentiment of the show’s theme song, reflecting her genuine nature and the bonds she cherished.  “Thank you for being a friend,” she would resonate, embodying the essence of camaraderie and support that defined her relationships throughout her life.

Brenda was indeed a confidant, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand to those who needed her.  Mrs. Hartzog was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Hartzog is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bobby Hartzog; brother, James Rollins Jr. and a sister, Lois King.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Robin Tavarez of Silver Creek;  two sons Brian Hartzog (LeAnne) of New Hebron, Richard Hartzog of Bristow, Virginia; her sister, Joyce Bass of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and her brother, Lloyd Rollins of Centreville, Virginia. The legacy of their Granny will also live on through her grandchildren, Amaya Tavarez, Natalia Tavarez, Quinn Hartzog, Payton Kelly, Ashton Kelly and her great-grandson, Dallas McGee.
