Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at Sweet Beulah Church of God in Christ in Prentiss, for Mrs. Jerlean Price, 83,  who passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at Jefferson Davis Community Extended Care Facility in Prentiss. 

Elder Thad Easter officiated with interment following at Progress Church of God in Christ in Prentiss. 

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jerlean Price was born to the late James and Ella Ree Ratliff. She was the oldest of seven siblings. 

She attended the Covington County School system. After the ninth grade, she raised her younger siblings and worked the property and land. She was raised Baptist and attended Mt. Pleasant C. M. E. Church and later joined James Hill Church of God in Christ.

She was married to the late Elder Evan Price Sr. and they co-founded and built along with the late Elder Richard Lee and Eliza Polk, Progress Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Price served as first lady and Bible band teacher for many years. She worked for a short time at Magnetek Manufacturing before returning home to raise her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Ree Ratliff; brother, Ozzie Ratliff and granddaughter, JayCee Price.

She is survived by 11 children, Evan (Cassandra) Price Jr. of Prentiss; Willie Earl (Evelyn) Price of West Point; Earline (late Jimmy) Graves of Prentiss; James Daniel (Libbly) Price of Sickerville, New Jersey; Elizabeth Price of Prentiss, Ann D. Price of Mt. Olive; Pamela Price of Prentiss; William c. (Kimberly) Price of Apple Valley, California; Helen L. Price of Prentiss; Joanna (Bobby) Boykins of Prentiss; and Joe Anthony (Ebony) Price of Collins; grandson she raised, Terrance Alexander of Prentiss; six siblings, Margie Hall, Evelyn Hill, Rose Hall, Eddie (Elaine) Ratliff and Lewis Ratliff all of Prentiss; Betty McLeod of Hawthorne, California and  many other relatives and friends.
