Funeral services for Miss Kristen Maureen McRaney were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Saulters-McRaney Cemetery. 

Kristen, age 38, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at her residence in Prentiss.  Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

The family received friends Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, beginning at 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Kristen was born on May 19, 1986, in Hattiesburg, to Robert McRaney and Glenda Hathorn McRaney.  A lifelong Jefferson Davis County resident, Kristen attended Bassfield High School, where she was a Yellowjacket Cheerleader. In addition to being a devoted cheerleader in her youth, she also demonstrated exceptional skill in tumbling. Her love for movement extended to gymnastics, ballet, and tap dancing, where she embraced each art form with enthusiasm.

Throughout her life, Kristen was known for her warm spirit and kind heart.  A cherished family member, she held a special place in the lives of those who knew her.  Kristen’s generosity of spirit and her radiant smile will long be remembered by those fortunate enough to share in her life.  She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willie and Lucy Hathorn and her paternal grandparents, Johnny and Vera McRaney.

Kristen’s memory will forever be cherished by her son and daughter, Chandler McRaney and Chancey McRaney, both of Bassfield; her father, Bob McRaney of Prentiss; her mother, Glenda McRaney of Bassfield; one brother, Kevin McRaney (Sara) of Bassfield; a nephew, Ethan McRaney and a niece, Emily McRaney, both of Bassfield and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
