Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at Green Grove Baptist Church for Miss Hillary Nikole McGee, 32, who died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Rev. Timothy Rush officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Hillary McGee was born to Betty Newton and the late James McGee. She began her early education began at Lyman Elementary in Gulfport, and later North Woodmark Elementary in Biloxi.

After the impact of Hurricane Katrina, she continued her studies in Prentiss at Prentiss Junior High and High School, where she graduated with the Class of 2010.

She was a member of JROTC, Class Historian, played trombone in PHS Band and was a part of the BETA Club, where she demonstrated her commitment to leadership and service.    

She attended Alcorn State University and later pursued a career in nursing at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where she earned LPN certification.

She then began her career at Family Healthcare Clinic, and later transitioned to working with Cigna Healthcare.

She was a member of Green Grove Baptist Church and Cross and the Creek community.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Newton; daughter, Malaysia McGee and son, Ashad Magee and many other relatives and friends.
