Creepy critters, ghouls, monsters, movie characters and adorable children will be asking for treats Thursday at the front doors of residences all across Jefferson Davis County.

Trick-or-Treat for the Town of Prentiss will be held Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. for children 12 and under.

“We encourage those that wish to participate to leave a porch light on so the children will know who to ask for treats,” said Prentiss Mayor Charley Dumas.

In addition, Front Street in Prentiss, adjacent to Longleaf Trace Park, will be blocked off for Trunk-or-Treat during this time. Anyone who would like to bring a vehicle should contact Prentiss City Hall at 601-792-5196 to ensure a spot.

The Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department will also be handing out candy at the new Justice Complex in Prentiss.

Trick-or-Treat for the Town of Bassfield will be held Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Bassfield Dollar General, Bassfield Family Dollar, J & J Market and Bassfield Nutrition will be passing out treats from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

While police officers will be patrolling to ensure the safety of revelers as much as possible, residents are reminded to take extra health and safety measures. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution, watch for children and not text while driving.
