Mrs. Jones, age 78, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, Nov. 9, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

The family received friends Monday evening, Nov. 11, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones was carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they included Cody Ledet, Charles Jones, Garrett Jones, Wesley Ledet, Jeff Smith, Lester Smith, Colton Jones and Zach Walters.

Lou, as she was known by the many that loved her, was born on April 28, 1946 in Prentiss.

She attended Prentiss High School, and would go on to marry the love of her life, James.

Together they created a home filled with love and warmth.  Lou adored her family above all else, taking immense pleasure in nurturing a close-knit family environment, creating countless memories that her loved ones will cherish forever.

Lou worked many years at KLH Industries, where she demonstrated great dedication and a strong work ethic.

However, it was her involvement in her community and her devotion to her family that truly defined her legacy.

A cherished member of Phalti Baptist Church for many years, she took pride in serving as the overseer of the church kitchen.  There, she served her Lord by generously preparing meals for church dinners and funerals.

Lou’s nurturing spirit was reflected not only in her cooking but also in her life as a wife, mother and grandmother.

She adored her family and took immense pleasure in being a part of their lives.  Some of her proudest moments came during holiday gatherings when she would delight in serving her family’s favorite dishes, such as chicken and dumplings, pecan pie, and banana pudding.

These occasions were filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories, which will continue to resonate within the hearts of those she left behind.

In addition, she loved beautiful flowers and enjoyed growing potted plants.  Her family remarks on her fondness and knowledge of the Aloe Vera plant. This plant, with its healing qualities, mirrored her own nurturing spirit and caring heart.

Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her mother, Frances Berry; father, Burl Holloway; her son, Wesley Jones; a sister, Kathryn White and her grandson, Brandon Jones.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 62 years, James L. Jones of New Hebron; daughter, Rachelle Smith (Frank) of New Hebron; son, Stephen Jones (Sonja) of Prentiss; sisters, Martha Garner of Carson, Debra Rayburn of Columbia, Nina Brower of Gulfport and a brother, Dennis Holloway of Brandon. The legacy of their Nanny will also live on through her grandchildren, Elizabeth Ledet (Cody), Nicole Walters, Maggie McBride, Colton Jones, Zach Walters and her great-grandchildren, Wesley Ledet, Adleigh Ledet, Kaden Ledet, Logan Ledet and Layla McBride.  Mrs. Jones is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

The Jones family also wishes to express gratitude to the Gena, Jessica, Yogi, Heather and Emily with Compassus Hospice of Brookhaven for the care and compassion shown to Lou during her illness.
