A black male is dead after a shooting in Bassfield early this morning. Multiple calls came in to the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department just after midnight Sunday that there had been shots fired and one was injured.

Jefferson Davis County Deputies found Rodrigues ‘Slice’ Adams, 43, of Carson, dead on the scene when they arrived.

According to JDC Investigator Vernon Dampier, there was a party at 538 Bassfield Cemetery Road where the incident occurred. Dampier says there are two possible suspects, but no one is in custody at this time.

“We are working diligently to make sure the person responsible is apprehended as soon as possible,” said Dampier.
