Board of Supervisors approves purchase of van

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met for the last regularly scheduled meeting of the year Monday morning at the board room in Prentiss. The meeting opened with prayer by District 2 Supervisor Ricky Barrett before the minutes were approved.
County Engineer Les Dungan presented the board with a USDA grant to repair portions of Alex Daley Road, Raynes Road and Harper Road in Districts 2 and 3. The grant is 80/20 with the county’s portion totaling 59,500. The board approved accepting the grant.
Corey Dale, with Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance, Inc., presented the renewal for the county’s workman’s compensation insurance. The board accepted and signed the renewal.
Blake Spiers, with ComSouth, delivered new MSWIN radios to the board and provided instruction for use.
The board approved a quote and the purchase of a used cargo van for the coroner for $27,044.02.
Accountant Cathy Slocum and attorney Wes Daughdrill gave end of the month reports.
In other board news, the board approved the following without opposition before entering into executive session and adjourning:

• Approved spreading into the minutes the Service Provider Agreement.
• Approved spreading into the minutes Inmate Housing and Meal Report for November 2024.
• Approved spreading into the minutes Employee Action Forms for District 4.
• Approved employees attending meetings and conventions.
• Approved reimbursement to employees Keisha Lewis for $53.50 and Janice Bridges for $24.61.
• Approved spreading into the minutes an order from Judge Prentiss Harrell increasing the salary for the court coordinator, lab technician and budget analyst.
• Approved report and payment of credit card.
• Approved advertising county resources with WJDR during the holidays for $150.
• Approved claims.
