Vergie Mae Loftin Echols

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at Sweetwater C.M.E. Church in Prentiss, for Mrs. Vergie Mae Loftin Echols, 65, who passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at her residence.

Rev. Johnny Benjamin Barnes officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is the daughter of the late Spencer Loftin and Christine Myers Loftin.

She was a member of Sweetwater C.M.E. Church.

Mrs. Echols was a former seamstress who enjoyed fishing, sitting on her porch, jokes and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Adams and Abrehun Echols both of Bassfield; God-sons, Terry Glenn Adams and Abrehum Devion Echols; daughters, Christian Hall and Debra Ann Loftin both of Bassfield; brothers, James Loftin of Brookhaven; Marcus Loftin of Lumberton; sisters, Dorothy Jones of Prentiss; Annie Arnold of Bassfield; Clementine Echols of Columbia; and Rosemary Frye of Bassfield; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
