GPS to be placed on all JDCSO vehicles

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met for the first meeting of May Monday morning at the board room in Prentiss. The meeting opened with prayer by Rev. Jesse Holloway before the minutes were approved.
JDC Chief Deputy Frank Riley presented two quotes for GPS trackers to be placed on all 15 vehicles in the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department.
“Safety is our main concern with these trackers,” said Riley. “If there is an accident or if we can’t get in touch with one of our officers, this will tell us exactly where they are,” he said.
GPS Insight was selected and approved at $3411.00 per year. Comsouth also submitted a bid for $4500.00 per year.
James Allison asked for the board’s support with a 3 on 3 basketball tournament fundraiser he plans on hosting in August. Funds raised will be used for striping, equipment and maintenance for basketball court at the former Lions Club Park in Prentiss.
Storm debris monitoring proposals have been submitted and will be open May 12 at 9 a.m.
The board approved the re-appointment of Dorothy Barnes to the Economic Development Board for District 3.
In other board news, the board approved the following without opposition before it recessed until May 12:
•Approved minutes.
•Approved Board President signing the Resolution Adopting the District 8 Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
•Approved Board President signing Proxy for the Annual Membership Meeting of the MS Public Entity Workers Compensation Trust.
•Approved spreading into the Minutes Annual 2024 SLFRF Compliance Report.
•Approved renewal of lease of the Skating Rink Building.
•Approved renewal of agreement for collections with Southern Financial Systems for Justice Court.
•Approved school bus turnaround in District 1 at 184 Fate Ward Road.
•Approved Employee Action Forms for Sheriff’s Department and District 5.
•Approved employees attending meetings and conventions.
•Approved spreading into the Minutes Chancery Annual Financial Report, accepting overpayment on cap and payment of county portion to PERS.
•Approved payment of invoices to McGuffee Farms for $6,503.86 (ERBR Jones Ford Road), Pittman Howdeshell, PLLC for $2,645.44 (right of ways fees Mt Zion Road) and Southern Mississippi Planning and Development for $11,565.95 (senior citizens services).
•Approved payments without a purchase order to C & M Tire for $1,567.30 in District 4.
•Approved overage on purchase order #250318 in District 4 to Dunn Roadbuilders for 0.05 ton cold mix.
•Approved deleting from inventory in District 3: Asset 2147 – 455 saw and Asset 2372 Stihl weed eater.
•Approved combining two assets in District 3: Asset 255 bush hog, with Asset 256 Massey Ferguson tractor.
•Approved destruction of records.
•Approved claims.
