Kinder Morgan collaborated with the Jefferson Davis County Emergency Management Association to conduct a pipeline safety workshop May 1.

The purpose of the workshop was  to educate, train and identify strengths and weaknesses of the county’s first responders.

They provided an overview of pipeline operations, an after-action review of a Georgia pipeline incident and a tabletop workshop.

All firefighters, law enforcement officials, utility workers, dispatchers, emergency response personnel and elected officials were included in the workshop.

“We are all here to serve and protect to the best of our abilities in Jefferson Davis County,” said JDC Emergency Management Director Jocelyn Ragsdale.

“We do not know everything, but we can work together to learn and execute in an emergency situation,” she said.

The tabletop workshop was an interactive session that simulated the first few hours of a local response scenario, fostering a collaborative, multi-discipline discussion.

“One person cannot do it all, but together we can make it happen,” said Ragsdale.

“We have to learn to do what is best for all, forget about what happened yesterday and move forward to do a better job tomorrow,” she said.
