Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Holly Springs Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Bassfield, for Mr. Donald Renee Barnes, 56, who passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at Delta Health System Medical Center in Greenville.

Rev. William Harper officiated with interment following at Wheeler Cemetery in Bassfield.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is the son of the late Charles and Doris Harper Barnes. He was a member of Holly Spring Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Bassfield.

Mr. Barnes worked as a bricklayer.

He enjoyed sports, cooking, and was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints.

He is survived by special friend, Theresa King of Bassfield; son, Yhon John Donovan Barnes of Bassfield; raised as his own, Lesbastian Barnes of Bassfield; Karen Conley of Gulfport; Keaira Graves of Prentiss; Nykea King of Prentiss; Tamia King of Bassfield; Janna Barnes of South Carolina; brother, Charles Barnes, Jr. of Bassfield; sisters, Trenis Jones of Picayune; Shelia Varnado of Bassfield; Sarah Cook of Columbia; 10 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends..
