Waits, Ladner to serve as mayor; new boards set

Municipal elections for the Town of Prentiss and the Town of Bassfield were held Tuesday.

Tony Waits will serve the next four years as the Mayor of Prentiss.

The new Board of Aldermen for the Town of Prentiss will be Rhonda Bayles, Holley Kruger Cochran, Willard Davis, Hal “Moochie” Speights and Rebecca (Becky) Williamson.

Rhonda Bayles received   117 votes, Holley Kruger Cochran 136, Mike Curtis 71, Willard Davis 118, Rudolph (Rudy) McNease 59, Paige McRaney 43, Hal “Moochie” Speights 87, Randy Stamps 75 and Rebecca (Becky) Williamson 150.

Of the 596 registered voters, 210 votes were cast in the election, with two rejected votes.

Angie Speights Ladner will continue with a second term as Mayor of Bassfield.

Members of the new Bassfield Board of Aldermen are Lisa L. Blount, William Harold Daley, William M. Hendry, Johnny Kendall Roberts and James Edgar Speck.

Lisa L. Blount received 32 votes, William Harold Daley 34, Erin Lee Dyess 29, William M. Hendry 35, Pam Puckett Johnson 23, Johnny Kendall Roberts 36 and James Edgar Speck 30.

Of the 134 registered voters in Bassfield, 46 cast votes with one rejected.
