Chester Ree Hill

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Pen Oak Baptist Church in Silver Creek, for Mr. Chester Ree Hill, 80, of Byram, who died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Williow Creek Rehabilitation Center in Byram.

Rev. Robert Barnes officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chester Hill, the oldest of eight children was preceded in death by his mother, Verlean Hill Clark; maternal grandparents, Louis and Jessie Hill; three sisters, Shirley Nettles, Betty McDonald and Rosalind Cole; brother, David Oatis.

He dedicated most of his career to Georgia Pacific and Mallard Offshore.

He is survived by his daughter, Doretha Rice of Savannah, Georgia: siblings, Pearlean (Sam) Hayward of Brownsville, Tennessee; Linda Oatis Hartwell of Hammond, Louisiana; Barbara (Mark) Washington of Denham Springs, Louisiana; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
