Esteen Jerome Laird

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel for Mr. Esteen Jerome Laird, 62, who died Monday, May 5, 2025, at Wesley Merit Health Center in Hattiesburg.

Rev. Kevin Youngblood officiated. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Esteen Laird was born to the late William Esteen and Parma Lee Laird in Prentiss. He joined Prentiss First Baptist Church at an early age. He started his career working at Jeffersonian Motel. He graduated from Prentiss High School in 1981 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps afterwards. He received many awards while enlisted in the Marines. After service, he began working at Magnetek Manufacturing.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Washington, Percy McLaurin and William Laird Sr; sister, Zenovia Ragland; nephew, Antonio Dean; William Laird Jr; great-nephew, Joshua Franks.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Laird of Prentiss; brothers, Mark Laird and Timothy Laird both of Prentiss; sisters, Sherry Brown of Webster, Texas, Earnestine Dixon and Melody Gray both of Arlington, Texas; Nancy Laird and Anita Laird both of Prentiss; Pamela (Roosevelt) Brown of Conroe, Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends and special sister, Brenda Hathorn.
