I want to take this opportunity to thank those who have served in our city government for the last four years.

You have given your time to us and we appreciate you.

I also want to say congrats to Tony Waits, Mayor.

You will do an outstanding job leading our town to new growth and innovation. Becky Williamson, Rhonda Bayles and Holley Cochran (girl power) are the new Alderwomen. Willie Davis and Moochie Speights (past knowledge) were reelected to serve us for four more years.

Great crew with combined innovative ideas, who will do an outstanding job working on the part of the people of our community. We look forward to the next four years.

Now for what we can do as a community.

A leader is only as good as their followers allow. We must be willing to participate, to be forthcoming with suggestions.

We must be open with our likes and complaints and be part of the change if that is required.

If we sit on the sidelines and do nothing, we are part of the problem.

If you know of or see wrong doing you must come forth with suggestions for improvement. If you allow wrong doing to continue, you are part of the problem.

So let’s work together to make Prentiss the best it can be.

It is already pretty great in my opinion or I wouldn’t have moved back here to retire.

Now we want other people to see the wonderful community that we are.

So going forward, let’s be sure we support our city officials and provide all the assistance and support they need to make Prentiss the best it can be.

One suggestion I can make right off the bat to help our community is don’t throw your trash anywhere but in a trash receptical.

For some reason, it does seem to be a bit of a problem we could all easily solve.

When people drive through our town we want them to have a positive impression of Prentiss.

We can all do our part by keeping our homes and business clean and mowed and throw trash in the appropriate containers.

It is actually a reflection of who we are as a town. It shows us as a caring community with pride, not a community that thinks keeping the town clean and in good repair is someone ease’s problem. It is all our problem.

Let’s take pride in who we are. We are pretty special you know.

Prentiss Pride, my new motto. Hope it is yours as well.
