Bid awarded for Sumrall Road bridge replacement

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met for the first meeting of July Monday in the board room in Prentiss. After prayer was offered by Rev. Jessie Holloway, the Board approved the agenda.
A representative from Upchurch made a request to the Board for utilities information for analysis to assist the board in saving money. It is at no cost to the county.
County engineer Les Dungan opened bids for the Sumrall Road bridge replacement. A total of five bids were received. Ellis Dozer was awarded the project with a total bid of $1,196,726.

Dungan gave a storm monitoring and cleanup update. A total of $448,038.92 has been expended for cleanup with $96,564 for monitoring.
The Board approved a quote for roadside spraying in District 1 and District 2. Opterra Solutions presented the lowest quote at $9,890 per district for 86 acres of spraying.
The Board approved quote for replacement of broken trailer glass from bush hogging in District 2 for a total of $1,125.79 total for glass and labor.
A quote from B & B Glassworks for $215 was approved to repair an employee’s vehicle glass that was damaged during mowing.
The board approved a quote for stripping, polishing and sealing the floor in foyer of the Administrative Building. Halls Professional Cleaning Services will complete the job for $980.
Agenda item, approve renewal contract with the Echols Group, was unanimously opposed.

• Approved spreading into the minutes Employee Action Forms for Sheriff’s Department, District 2, District 3 and District 4.
• Approved reimbursement to employees to Michael Evans for $79.99.
• Approved payment of invoice to Dungan Engineering for $6,7336.30 (ERBR Sumrall Road).
• Approved PERS conducting two sessions on retirement for employees.
• Approved 4th quarter appropriations for Tax Assessor and Sheriff Department: Sheriff’s Department $137,472.13, Custody of Prisoners $124,024.56 and Tax Assessor $ 77,450.43.
