- Holley Cochran / The Prentiss Headlight—Jefferson Davis County Board President Michael Evans and Prentiss Mayor Tony Waits welcome community members July 3.
The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors in conjunction with the Jefferson Davis County Emergency Management Department presented a weather preparedness seminar in Prentiss earlier this month.
The presentation, held July 3, informed all county and town employees of the importance of being prepared for inclement weather of all kinds.
The discussion was led by Jefferson Davis County Emergency Management Director Jocelyn Ragsdale.

“The most important thing you can do is to have supplies readily available and a plan already in place prior to the arrival of inclement weather,” said Ragsdale.
Ragsdale also urged employees and community members to be aware of the danger of the extreme heat in the area this time of year.
Mayors and aldermen from the Town of Prentiss and the Town of Bassfield, as well as officials from surrounding towns and counties including Monticello, Collins and Seminary, were also in attendance.
“We work best when we work together,” said Prentiss Mayor Tony Waits. “We won’t get anywhere fast if pulling in different directions,” he said.
Lunch was provided at the conclusion of the presentation.
