Huffman named Prentiss Christian Head of Schools

Holley Cochran / The Prentiss Headlight—Dr. George "Bo" Huffman has been named Head of Schools at Prentiss Christian School.

The board of directors of Prentiss Christian School has recently appointed Dr. George “Bo” Huffman as Head of Schools.

Huffman has been at Prentiss Christian for two years, serving as high school principal, biology instructor and football and track coach.

He has a total of 34 years in the field of education

He served seven years as instructor of biology, physical science and physical education while at Brookhaven School District, Lawrence County High School and Magee High School.

Dr. Huffman also served as assistant principal and principal at Magee High School.

He served 10 years as CTE Director at the Simpson County Technical Center.

His education includes a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi, Master of Education degree from William Carey University and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Huffman has been married for 32 years to Darla Welch Huffman and is the proud father of two boys, Derek and Hayden and proud Papa to two grandchildren, Reid and Renlee Belle.

“I am extremely blessed and extremely honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Head of Schools for Prentiss Christian Schools,” said Huffman.

“I look forward to continuing to serve the students, faculty and this community by helping to develop our scholars into men and women of excellence with strong integrity and great citizenship,” he said.

Dr. Flavol Restor has been named principal of Prentiss Christian School which educates students in grades K3 through 12.

Prentiss Christian recently received accreditation through the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools.

Accreditation through the MAIS is comprehensive, addressing the total school including its physical plant, community, staff and administration, activities and instructional personnel.  Accreditation and site visits are required every five years by the MAIS.
