Then and Now

I was at Tresses’ the other day, she was trying to do her magic to make me look better. Lots of luck on that.

We started talking about some community events we would love to see for the coming fall and holiday season.

I think our town is excited about new leadership and new beginnings.

We may have some hurdles before us, but we are much too dedicated to seeing this town grow and prosper to let that side track us.

This is going to be our time to shine if we all work together and help our little town be the best it can be.

We need to put our heads together to come up with some events that would bring everyone out and about. No stick in the mud for us. It is up to all of us to make this town fun and appealing to outsiders.

Perhaps there will be a new industry or business looking at us and when they come we should look alive and welcoming and I feel sure we will see them come.

Perhaps we can do some “open houses” for the Christmas season.

Especially for those that have not been on tour in past years.

Everyone wants to see the inside of pretty and unusual homes.

This year we want to be sure we reach out to those in the outskirts of town as well. So many of our prettiest homes are out in the county.

And hey, what ever happened to an old fashion tea for the ladies?

And, what about a gentleman’s event? Does someone have a great hunting camp or fishing cabin?

What about just a Guy’s cook out? Of course us girls wouldn’t mind being invited if you insist.

Then let’s also think about a town clean up day.

Remember we did that years ago and everyone came out with weed eaters, pressure washers and lots of Windex for shop windows.

As soon as it cools off that may need to be one of first endeavors.

Not a fundraiser but we could sell some burgers and other food on main street that day.

We can bring our town and county alive and shinning like it hasn’t been in years.

Pride feels good so let’s get to work.
