Glenn Dale Haynes

Mr. Glenn Dale “Sugar Bear” Haynes, 59, died on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home in rural Lawrence County. Services for Mr. Haynes were held on Thursday, June 12, at the Rose Hill MB Church, in Silver Creek with Pastor Larry Jackson and Rev. Leander Bridges of Spring Hill Church in Ellisville officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.
Mr. Haynes was the oldest of nine children born to the late Ulysses Haynes and Ella Mae Blanchard Haynes of rural Lawrence County. At an early age, he joined the Rose Hill Church and remained a member until his death. Mr. Haynes served his Lord and Church as a senior usher, trustee, Sunday school member, and as a member of the Brothers in Christ Male Choir.
As a young man, Mr. Haynes was reared and educated in the Lawrence County School System where he met his high school sweetheart that became his wife in 1974. Mr. Haynes and the late Clara L. Haynes were blessed with three children.
Mr. Haynes worked for over 25 years as a certified crane operator for a number of offshore oil exploration companies, while operating his own pulpwood harvesting business during his time at home. After working offshore, Mr. Haynes worked as a truck driver for a local trucking company, while spending time fishing, playing the guitar, and enjoying his family.
Mr. Haynes’ survivors include his two sons, Glenn (Lawondra) Haynes, Jr. of Byram and Christopher (Franshasta) Haynes of Silver Creek; one daughter, Gwenetha Haynes of Silver Creek; his mother, Ella Mae Haynes of Silver Creek; six brothers, Gary (Elizabeth) Haynes of Estill SC, Curtis (Gwen) Haynes of Brandon, Patrick (Carolyn) Haynes of Columbia, Randy (Crystal) Haynes of Silver Creek, LaShun Haynes of Memphis, TN, and Michael Haynes of Ridgeland; one sister, Glenda R. Haynes of Jackson; eight grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
