Hiram Williams III

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Prentiss Baptist Church in Prentiss, for Mr. Hiram Griffith Williams III, age 66, of Prentiss, who passed away on March 2 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Prentiss Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Ben James, Rev. David Michel and Rev. Randy Rich officiated. Pallbearers were: John Polk, Bill Whittington, Robert Jones, Billy Parish, Eddie Dale, Eddie Speights, James Dale and John McGee. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Prentiss Baptist Church.

Hiram was born on February 6, 1949, in Hattiesburg. He was the son of Hiram Williams Jr. and Pauline Fortenberry. After high school, he attended USM. He worked with his father and was at Lee & Company for 25 years. After the store closed he worked at KLH Industries for three years as the purchasing manager. He then became the Prentiss Baptist Church administrator from the year 2001 to present. He was formerly very active in the rotary club and chamber of commerce. He was a deacon at the Prentiss Baptist Church and really enjoyed singing bass in the choir. His two greatest loves in life were his wife Patricia and football. He was Patricia’s greatest fan and loved to hear her play the piano. He was also one of the Saints biggest fans.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Prentiss Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Williams of Prentiss; two daughters, Marrianne (Corey) Dale and Lori (Lance) Newman, both of Brandon; and five grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.
