George Clyde Thurman, Jr.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 1, 2015, at Saulters Moore Chapel in Prentiss, for Mr. George Clyde Thurman, Jr. who passed away on April 29, at his residence in Prentiss. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery in Prentiss. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Bryan Wilson and Rev. Bobby Brewer officiated. Pallbearers were Adam Harrell, Allen McNeil, Joel McRaney, Brock Hudson, Charlie Thurman, Curtis McNeil and Brent Hudson.

Clyde was born September 15, 1938, in Prentiss, MS. He was the son of George Clyde Thurman, Sr. and Vera Brunt Thurman. He was a machinist for the Illinois Central Canadian National Rail Road for 35 years. He was a member of Southside Assembly of God in Jackson, MS.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thurman of Prentiss; two sons, Daryle (Sophie) Thurman of Byram, MS and Keith Thurman of Jackson; one daughter, Elisa (Stan) Acey of Byram; three step daughters, Alisha Burgess of Pearl, Jamie Moore of Prentiss, and Jackie (Mark) Miller of Prentiss; one stepson, Jerome Tyrone Boyd of Brandon; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, William “Bill” Howard Thurman of Canton; three sisters, Jean Griffith of New Hebron, Sarah Nell Cooley of Richardson, TX, and Ann Mitchell of Picayune.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one grandson, and one stepdaughter.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery.
