The deadline for voting absentee in the August 4 primary election is 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.

Mailed ballots must be received by Monday, August 3. In order to receive an absentee ballot by mail, the voter must call the Circuit Clerk’s office and request a mail-out.

If the voter is over 65 or disabled, the mailed in ballot will just need to be signature witnessed.

If the voter is out of the county, under 65 or not disabled, it must be notarized.

Every ballot comes with an application to vote absentee. The application must also be notarized or witnessed, depending on the voter’s circumstances, and must be mailed separately from the ballot.

Everything the voter needs will be supplied by the Circuit Clerk’s office. Postage will also be provided to those voters over 65 or disabled.

If you are going to be out of town on election day or over 65, you can come to the Circuit Clerk’s office and vote absentee early in person.

There are two separate ballots in the August 4 primary election, a Republican and a Democratic. The majority of local elections are running Democrat.

If a voter chooses to vote on the Democratic ballot on August 4, they must also vote Democrat in the August 25 primary run-off election, the same goes for Republican voters.

“Everything is going smoothly at this time. We hope everyone will get out and exercise their right to vote,” said Circuit Clerk Clint Langley.
