Carl Polk

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Mt. Carmel MB Church for Mr. Carl “Pork Chop” Polk, age 63, who died Friday, July 24, at Jeff Davis Community Extended Care Facility. Rev. Junior Ross officiated with interment following in the Griffith Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carl Polk was born to the late Coreaner Davis and Carl Holloway in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Prentiss, Mississippi, at a young age and attended J.E. Johnson High School.

He was preceded in death by brother, Ronnie Davis of Chicago, Illinois.

He is survived by two sisters, Sarah Nell (Javious) Hall and Annette Price both of Prentiss; caregiver, JoAnna Holloway of Prentiss; extended families of The Holloway’s and the Ball’s.

 

Margaret B. Bailey

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 1, 2015, at St. Paul MB Church in Bassfield, for Mrs. Margaret B. Sims Bailey, age 47, who died Monday, July 27, at her residence. Rev. Henry L. Kelly officiated with interment following in the Shorts Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Carson. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Margaret B. Bailey was born to the late John L. and Winnie Burton Sims. She joined Morning Star MB Church at an early age.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jessie Lee Bailey, and companion, Jessie Graves.

She is survived by one son, Marreco (Tazanisha) Bailey of Gulfport; one daughter, Angela (Stanley) Bailey of Bassfield; three grandchildren, Aaleyah Bailey and Kameron Newsome both of Bassfield, and Re’Lynn Bailey of Gulfport; one sister, Windy (Christopher) Shorts; two brothers, John L. (Lillian) Sims, Jr. and Johnny Ray Sims both of Bassfield; two god sisters, Joyce Robinson of Bassfield and De’Ousiha Knight of Columbia; aunt, Annie Pearl Sims; and two special friends, Rutha Mikell and Ollie Mae Knight both of Bassfield; many other relatives and friends.
