Howard “Cowboy” Dyess

Graveside services were held Friday, August 7, 2015, at Greens Creek Cemetery in Carson, MS, for James Howard Dyess, age 69, who passed away on August 3, at his residence in Carson, MS. Interment immediately followed services. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Steve Graves officiated.
James Howard Dyess worked as a jailor and deputy sheriff for over 25 years in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He was a member of Dublin Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, BB Dyess of Epps, LA; four brothers, Pearlie Dyess of Calhoun City, MS, Roger Dyess and Randy Dyess both of Carson, MS, and Rowland Dyess of Bassfield, MS; one sister, Barbara Neal of Monticello, MS; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
