Ja Rutha Booth

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Sweetwater CME Church for Mrs. Ja Rutha Booth, age 97, who died Saturday, August 15, at Jeff Davis Extended Care Facility. Rev. Earnest Thompson officiated with interment following in the Booth Cemetery, Bassfield, MS. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ja Rutha Booth was born to the late Jim Harper and Lee Terrell.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

She joined Sweetwater CME Church at an early age and remained a member until her death. She served on the Stewardess Board, president of the Local Missionary Society and a member of the adult choir for many years.

Mrs. Booth was married to the late N.J. Booth and 10 children were born to this union.

She was preceded in death by five children, Noah, Noah James, Henry Noah, Kermit and Roy.

She is survived by one son, Roosevelt (Mary) Booth of New Orleans, LA; four daughters, Bernice Bass, Nadine (John) Thompson, Francis (Charles) Echols all of Bassfield, Juanita Mushatt of Athens, AL; one daughter-in-law, Frances Booth of Bassfield, MS; and one daughter, who she raised as her own, Pam (Ken) Harvey of Los Angeles, CA; 36 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; 81 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
