There is a new learning center under construction for the Jefferson Davis County School District.
This new lab will be the nucleus of the following academic areas: fine arts, advanced placement, alternative placement, professional development, administrative meetings, and trainings.
The goal of academic success lab is to offer the district with an array of services in one location that will enhance learning for all students.
Therefore, this lab will house fine arts programs in a facility that is suitable and conducive to plays, musicals, debates, and dance recitals.
It will also be the housing unit for dual enrollment and advanced placement courses (which is a program that the district is currently enrolled in).
Additionally, this will be the site of the alternative placement program to ensure that each zone is centrally focused and students are afforded the newest technology and training exposure during their placement.
The project will be funded from interest accrued from 16th section land.
The building will be located next to the Dennis W. Fortenberry Career Center in Carson.
Groundbreaking on the site will be within the next two weeks.
