Funeral Services for Emmett Harvey were held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at The First Baptist Church of Collins. Mr. Harvey was 92 and passed away from this life on Friday, August 26, 2016 at his residence in Collins. Rev. John Sapp and Rev. Joseph Bird officiated and Dr. Barry Morris provided the musical service. Interment followed in the Collins City Cemetery.

Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Noel Rogers, Paul Rogers, Jeff Rogers, Ronnie Harvey, Bruce Lancaster, and Caleb Lancaster. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Collins.

Emmett Harvey was born on June 14, 1924 in Covington County to George Harvey and Leatres Cruise Harvey.

Mr. Harvey was a graduate of Jones County Junior College, The University of Southern Mississippi, and Mississippi State University. He was an educator and administrator for over 40 years. Mr. Harvey was the retired Director of Guidance and Admissions at Jones County Junior College. He was a member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Collins.

Mr. Harvey was a member and former President of the Collins Rotary Club, where he earned a Life Long Achievement Award in 2013 and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Emmett Harvey was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge and recently earned his 60 year pin.

Proceeding Mr. Harvey in death were his mother and father; his wife of 50 years Jean Daughtrey Harvey; and his brother, John Harvey.

Survivors are 2 sons, Lantz Harvey of New Orleans, LA., and Dr. Martin Harvey and his wife Lisa of Collins; 2 grandchildren, Hannah Beth Harvey and Mary Catherine Harvey, both of Collins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
