John C. Sands

Funeral services were held Monday, September 12, 2016 at Springhill M. B. Church for Mr. John C. (J.C.) Sands, 56, who died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Garden Park Hospital, Gulfport, MS. Rev. Roy Thompson, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. J. C. Sands was born to the late Luvell Sands and Mrs. Inez Sands in Prentiss, MS.  He attended Prentiss High School.  Mr. Sands also known as Jake went to Pascagoula, Mississippi to work in Cornstruction.  He later worked at KLH, Inc. in Prentiss, MS. He met Annie Reese and they were together until he passed.

He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Calvin and James Charles Sands; sister, Mary Sands and sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Sands; four aunts and five uncles.

He is survived by: mother, Inez Sands; brother, James Sands; five sisters, Minnie M. (Calvin) Sands, Minnie L. Coleman, Lillie B. Sands, Kathy (Louis) Armstrong all of Prentiss, MS; Angela Bates of Hattiesburg, MS; Life long friend, Annie Reese of Gulfport, MS; two daughers, Danelle Hinton of Bassfield, MS and Penny Reese of Gulfport, MS; 5 grandchildren; one uncle, Tony Sands of Chicago, IL; many other relatives and friends.
