Willie James Price, 90, died Monday, September 5, 2016, at Hattiesburg Health and Rehabilitation in Hattiesburg. Services for Mr. Price were held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Prentiss, with Minister Dernell Garner officiating. Interment was in the Coleman’s Chapel Cemetery in Lawrence County, with Laird Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Price was the son of the late Willie Lee Price and the late Plavy Lee Price of Lucas. In 2003, Mr. Price received his baptism in to Jehovah and remained a faithful witness until his health failed. Mr. Price was reared and educated in the Jefferson Davis County area, prior to serving during World War II where he received an honorable discharge in a1947. As a provider and loving father, Mr. Price worked as a landscape engineer for most of his life. Mr. Price was married to the late Osteine Price.
Mr. Price’s survivors include his caretaker/nephew Perry D. Shannon of Olive Branch; five nieces and nephews, Ferry Lee Shannon, Plavy Shannon, Chestine Farmer, Sam Shannon, and Teresa Shannon; and a number of other relative and friends
