Funeral services for Mildred Barnes were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Oakvale Baptist Church. Barnes, 96, passed away from this life on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, in Monticello. Reverend Eddie Myers and Reverend Wade Barnes officiatde. DeeDee Barnes and Ryan Turnage provided the musical service. Interment was in the Society Hill Cemetery.

Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Gavin Daughdrill, Joseph Summers, Layke Daughdrill, Zachary Summers, Dillan Barnes, and Garrett Barnes.Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Dawson Barnes and Cannon Barnes.

Mildred R. Barnes was born on Nov. 2, 1920, in Lawrence County to Tom and May Parkman Rogers. She was a homemaker and a member of Oakvale Baptist Church.

Preceding Barnes in death were her mother and father; her husband, Albert Virgil Barnes; one son, Sammy Virgil Barnes; two sisters, Hilda Mae Ford and Ruby Lee Evans; and one brother, Jack Rogers.

Survivors are her daughter, Barbara and Estus Ladner of Perkinston; one sister, Albert Bourn of Arm; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Rials of Monticello; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
