Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Whitesand Baptist Church for Mrs. Mabel E. Bass, 100, who died Dec. 24, 2016, at the extended care facility in Prentiss. Interment followed in Whitesand Cemetery.  Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements.

Rev. Charles Burnham officiated.  Pallbearers were John Slater, David Lee, Cody Rosser, Thomas Cullom, Curt Bass and Tommy Breland.

Bass was born in Roseland, Louisiana, on Jan. 7, 1916, to Frank Ellzey and Catherine Smith Ellzey. She was a seamstress for the style shop in Prentiss. She was a member of Whitesand Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Curtis Webb Bass and wife, Linda of Prentiss, and one daughter, Mary Kay Magee of Prentiss.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three brothers.
