Funeral Services for Bertile Polk were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Mrs. Pope, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, in Prentiss. Rev. Earl Clark, Rev. Steve Ellis, Rev. Jon Neal, and Rev. Dr. Davis Caves officiated. The musical service was performed by Flaval Rester, Jon and Crystal Neal, and Steve and Jennifer Ellis. Interment followed in the Stephens Family Cemetery.
Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Daniel Lumpkin, T.R. Russell, Colby Neal, Catlin Neal, Nathan Bryant, and Lance Russell.
Ruby Bertile Polk was born on Dec. 30, 1922, in Lawrence County to Daniel and Missy Herrington Stephens. Mrs. Polk was a retired seamstress and was a member of Station Creek Baptist Church in.
Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by her mother and father; three husbands, Thomas Russell, Cleatus Ward, and Leo Polk; five brothers and three sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Jacy Riley.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Loftin and her husband Danny of Collins; two sons, Danny Russell and his wife Linda of Silver Creek, and Thomas Russell and his wife Jamie of Shivers; one brother, Roy “Toar” Stephens of New Hebron; one sister, Ellisine Saulters of Prentiss; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
