Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Mt. Zion M. B. Church for Mr. Robert James Myers, 59, who died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. Ozell White, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert James Myers was born to the late Lula Laird Myers and the late James Berry in Prentiss.  He joined Mt. Zion M. B. Church at an early age.  He attended Oakley Elementary School and Prentiss High School.  He worked many years in the pulp wood business until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bessie Smith, Dessie Harvey and Belinda Byrd and brother, Roy Myers; three uncles and three aunts.

He is survived by his son, Eric Lewis of Prentiss; sisters, Bobbie Fairley (Willie) and Lula White (Marvin) both of Prentiss, Mattie Williams (Rev. Melvin) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; aunts, Maxie J. Laird of Prentiss and Martha Anderson of Gulfport; special friend, Annie Gambling and special cousin, Trina Laird; and many relatives and friends.
